Actions/ Therapeutic Uses
Mucilaginous (glutinous), Astringent, Anti-constipative, Haemostatic, Stomach tonic, Antidysenteric, Antidiabetic, Brain and Cardiac tonic. The bark is regarded as antipyretic and cooling agent. It is useful in chronic dysentery, habitual constipation, dysentery and several relevant digestive tract disorders like dyspepsia, flatulence and chronic diarrhoea with or without fever. Also used in cholera epidemics and for the treatment of piles.

2-3 gms. (In powdered form), 3-5 gms. (in infusion form)
