World Health Day (WHD) is observed every year on April 7 to mark the anniversary of the foundation day of the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO was founded on 7 April 1948, with the principle that all people should be able to realize their right to the highest possible level of health. Every year a different theme is selected keeping in mind the global public health concern.
WHD theme for 2022 is Our Planet, Our Health. The focus on this WHD is to take urgent actions to keep humans and the planet healthy and build a movement to create societies focused on well-being.
The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed weaknesses in all areas of society. More than 13 million deaths worldwide are due to avoidable causes, as estimated by the World Health Organization (WHO). Polluted planet and increasing incidence of diseases showed us the urgency of creating sustainable well-being societies. This WHD gives a unique opportunity to take action for achieving equitable health now and for future generations without harming ecological balance.
Take action and inspire others for a #HealthierTomorrow
We have to reimagine a world where clean air, water and food are available to all, cities are liveable, people have control over their health and health of the planet.
